On-Page SEO

On-page SEO is the part of search engine optimization that takes place on your own website: page titles, meta descriptions, headings, text, alt text for images, and internal links—all of which help Google and visitors correctly understand the content of each page.

What does this mean for your business?

On-page SEO is manual work done on a per-page basis, which is why it’s priced by the number of pages: as many pages as there are titles and descriptions. The risk lies in implementation: a title embedded in a table is useless unless the CMS actually outputs it. Request a test report with every delivery that verifies the new values in the delivered HTML, page by page. An SEO audit will show you in advance which pages need work and whether the CMS even outputs the fields.

Is a free on-page check enough?

For an initial assessment, yes; for making a decision, no. An on-page check identifies symptoms: missing titles, duplicate descriptions, images without alt text. It doesn’t tell you whether a title matches the search intent, which pages generate traffic, or whether the CMS outputs a properly maintained field. According to its own guidelines, Google generates the visible page title from multiple sources, including the title element, and uses the meta description only occasionally as a snippet. The check provides the list; the evaluation remains a manual process.

From Our Experience

For a B2B wholesaler, we delivered 52 new page titles, 97 alt texts, and new meta descriptions. When we checked on August 24, 2026, none of the 52 titles had been applied to the page titles, none of the 97 alt texts were live, and only 6 of the 52 descriptions had been implemented. Reason: The CMS template did not read the field for the SEO title at all. Since then, our on-page work has concluded with a review of the delivered HTML, not with the delivery of the spreadsheet.

Distinction

  • Technical SEO ensures that Google can crawl and index the pages; on-page SEO determines what Google finds on the crawled page.
  • Off-page SEO encompasses everything outside your own website, especially links from external sites.
  • An SEO audit is an assessment in which on-page SEO is one area alongside technical aspects and links.
  • Keywords are the search terms that on-page SEO incorporates into titles, headings, and text.
  • Duplicate content is a common on-page issue: identical text or titles appearing on multiple pages.

Red Flag in the Proposal

If a quote states “On-page optimization for 50 pages” but the result is an Excel spreadsheet or a PDF—without implementation and without an audit report based on the delivered HTML—then the work is only half done. The example above shows what happens then: 0 out of 52 titles are live.
