// glossary entry
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot from OpenAI based on the GPT model series. Since August 2025, GPT-5 has been the default model, it understands text, images, and speech, and can use external tools. For you as a decision-maker at a German SME, the difference lies not in the model but in the license: Free and Plus pose GDPR risks, while Team and Enterprise allow for a data processing agreement and EU data storage. At Waterproof Web Wizard, we use ChatGPT as a research tool, never as an unverified text generator.
